Amidst the excitement of participating and blogging about the Selangor Open result, I’ve totally forgotten to mention that Dato Tan visited Kompleks Wilayah at around luch time.
His visit went largely unnoticed. Even I forgot about it and only remembered it after viewing the photos from my handphone. I guess many people easily forget what Dato has contributed to chess sometimes.
Personally, I’ve seen GilaChess website steadily grow in terms of traffic and popularity but all that would not be possible without the explosive growth of the popularity of rapid chess championed by Dato in this region. I doubt there would be any existence of GilaChess today if chess did not take off like it did in Malaysia many years ago.
