Terminate Streamyx Contract

That’s what I want to do. After 2 weeks I still don’t have internet connection. Today the support people at TMNET had a good excuse - service interruption so it is not just my connection that has problem, it’s everybody’s problem. How reassuring. I guess I have to call again tomorrow.

As I understand before my one-year Streamyx contract can be terminated I must have gone through these stages:-
- calls to support that will walk me thru useless steps like turning on and off, disconnecting and connecting the cables etc.
- if problem persists, TMNet Streamyx technician will try to sort out the problem by replacing the modem (free)
- If problem persists, TMNet will check out the nearest exchange and try to fix the problem there .

After that I guess it’s breach of contract because TMNet could not fix the problem and provide ANY internet service. Only then I have the right to terminate the contract.

In case that happens, I’ll take my ex-student Teh Theng Heng’s advice by getting Maxis Wireless. It’s pretty cheap at around RM 68 a month but with only 384Kbps. I can live with that because although slow it is very stable.
