Chess Overload
Phew the past few weeks are so packed with chess that I feel that I need to take a break. GilaChess also has his limits you know.
The chess event at PC Fair was great for publicity as just standing next to the booth I managed to get many ‘new’ potential ‘gila’ chess people to convert. I told them about all the chess websites to get more info. A number of these visitors told the same stories such as how they were active in school but lost touch of chess and just want to know if there is any place to get some decent games. Then there are those who just want to know where to find chess news (no prizes in guessing which website I recommended
). And a big majority of them asked if they can participate in whatever event the organisers were planning for the PC Fair. Unfortunately all the events were for juniors and you can just see the disappointment in their face as they left. Of course there were the few that were really interested in training and the Convekta software being sold at that booth.
Wish they organised something like a simul for PC Fair vistors. That would definitely add more publicity to chess. Now that’s an idea!
Back to overloading or is it overdosing on chess
??
Need to take a break from chess. I love chess, programming, blogging and making money online. It’s like eating your favourite flavour of candy but after some time you just get sick of it. I’m just getting too much of chess.
But as I see it, there is no rest in sight as next week will be the biggest chess tournament in Malaysia and I definitely cannot afford to miss reporting on that. Right after that will be the Royal Selangor Open and again, I cannot miss reporting on that either.
I think reporting and taking part in the event is a little too much so I’m considering NOT playing in one or both events.
Perhaps I will stop all chess activities (reporting, blogging, training and participating) right after the Selangor Open.

I loved your passion for chess. I have followed closely your site for the entire pikom fair event. I would like to personally meet you one day. I am not a strong player but i devoted so much time for it that i can easily be considered “gila”. Please do keep up the good work, and hope till we meet one day Andrew!
