Lim Yee Weng beats a GM
Kind of amazing that Yee Weng was down a pawn for most of the end game even untill the final position!
Did anyone remember the emphasis Yee Weng put on endgame studies for chess improvement during the short talk at Stonemaster #2 tourney ? Guess it paid off here..

First post from mamak stall
I’ve blogged from the mamak stall using my PDA so this is the first post using my new notebook.
What a relief being able to go online again. The Taiwan quakes really distrupted lots of online activity yesterday and today. I couldn’t access GilaChess.com for one whole day to add new news. Could do the [...]

Dell Notebook Arrives
Wow! Did Dell read my blog? Got my Dell Inspiron 640M notebook in just 2 days instead of 2 weeks. A courier sent it over to the office just now.
I immediately unpacked it and successfully connected to my company’s WiFi in less than 5 minutes. My only regret is the same notebook is RM 100 [...]

Giving up bullet
It’s so hard to give up online bullet chess. It’s just too addictive!
The original purpose of bullet was to reduce losing on time during the 1-2 minute time scramble. I think that has worked as I have not lost on time in any games recently.
However, there are negative effects as can be seen in my [...]

Dell 640m for the chess patzer
I want ..
The Intel Core chips (Core and Core 2 duo) is really great. These notebooks run faster while using less power resulting in longer battery life. I remember a year ago, the typical battery life of a notebook was about 2 hours. Now it’s common for notebooks to run 4-5 hours.
Today even an off-the-shelf [...]

I only reached 1700 on WCN once before. This morning was the second time!
Still not quite 1800 yet but I’ll have to be happy with it for the moment.
I haven’t played online for a almost 2 weeks now. As most of you know, my favourite online playing time is Friday nights.

Still without internet
I signed up for my Streamyx broadband connection 3 weeks ago at PC Fair and until today do not have it installed!
I’m really thinking twice about whether I want TMNet Streamyx after hearing horror stories of how poor the connection is. I was gambling that it will be better around my area in Old Klang [...]

Boost from Coke
I always thought that a caffeine boost from a coke or a sugar boost from a bar of chocolate was beneficial in the short term to get you alert just before an allegro game.
Here’s what I’ve found out from an article from Healthbolt:-
In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. [...]
