Modem fried

image

It’s depressing when I got back from the CAS allegro to find out my modem was dead. Since it just finished raining, I assume that it was struck by lightning. Silly me, I did not shut down the modem and router when I left for the tournament.

Now I have to buy another modem. Cheapest being RM 60+ and most expensive being RM 400+ presumably better quality. I checked the prices on Low Yat by using a dial up connection.

Luckily I also checked Low Yat’s forum and apparently Streamyx modem all have life time warranty. Relieved that I don’t have to fork out money to replace the modem, I called their support. Even though I think it’s completely my fault for not turning off the modem during a thunderstorm (how stupid is that!), TMNet support told me that the modem will be replaced. Bad news is that it will take 48 hours (they said ‘within 2 days’ but usually that means exactly 2 days or more - never sooner :) )

So now I’m blogging from Mahathir’s Mamak stall again …
