My first task as moderator
It feels strange to be the moderator of chess-malaysia. After all I’m just a small time patzer. It’s also sad to see Mr Quah Seng Sun take a less active role in Chess Malaysia. Anyway, I logged in 6am this morning for the first time to see what it was like. Immediately I was hit with 14 pending new message for the newsgroup. I was happy to see as I thought that there was suddenly some new activities. However only one of those message proved genuine with the announcement of a chess even in Johor. The other 13 messages were spam. I guess that’s what Mr Quah’s been doing lately. Protecting the newsgroup from being spammed by all sort of junk emails.
I was also surprised by Fadli’s email that more or less did not give me the vote of confidence to be moderator. He thinks I’m too busy with my other websites like GilaChess.com, this blog, and a host of other websites. However, now that I am a full time blogger, I spend my time mostly on the web and I think speding 3-5 minutes a day moderating the newsgroup is not much of a problem for me (I kill spam fast!!). The biggest problem now is to revive it. As I mention in my previous post, discussions has died down and replaced with only event announcements.
