Google PR thigh slap
After Google punished what seems to be the blog leaders of the community for online making, there has been feedback.
Obviously there are a lot of disgruntled bloggers who hate Google now. But it’s interesting to see that the popular answer to this is “Google Page Rank does not matter that much. My traffic is as high as ever so it’s no big deal.” I think this is more self consoling than anything else. Google not only control page ranks but how often their search engine index the pages in a certain website. If they decide that your site is spammy or of little quality, they can stop indexing your page altogether. That’s the same as being invisible on the web.
However the long term effects of Google depreciating these bloggers page rank is not known yet. Even though the search engine is indexing their websites with the same frequency in the past, this may change later. Already local bloggers like Sabahan.com is reporting a drop in his Adsense earnings as much as 30%. His website dropped from a PR5 to a PR4 several weeks ago.
I have yet to see Google promote any website page rank. It looks like their punishment exercise to bloggers who “sell links” is almost finished but updating other page ranks is still put on hold.
