Malaysian Voices

It’s good to see more people are going on to the net to have an online
presence.  A blog or a website gives you a voice. I encourage more
people to setup blogs and express your feelings and opinions.

Blogs are a great way for communication, building communities and even organising ideas to be carried out.

Many of you already know of these new sites but I’ll put it up here again just in case some of you do not know about them.

The Malaysian has 3 contributors to what is styled like an online chess magazine with regular weekly columns by the nation’s first International Master Jimmy Liew, ex-editor Larry Parr and Candidate Master Colin Madhavan.

Malaysian Chess is a brand new blog started by IA Lim Tse Pin, found of the Malaysian Chess Academy. Current contents includes the Kepong Junior Open announcements and the World Youth Chess Championship. He is also the
Chef De Mission for the World Youth Chess Championship.
Check out this blog for updates on the coming world youth event.

Former National Master, FM and FT Peter Long blog on ASEAN Chess.
He is one of Malaysia’s highest rated player for a long time and is
back after a 12 years hiatus from the chess scene. His blog is about:

Chess promotion, training and education, and the development of talent in the ASEAN region

Stonemaster.biz
by Fadli Zakaria, is now the highest ranked chess website in terms of
traffic in Malaysia. His traffic has even surpassed GilaChess.com this
past weeks. That’s a great feat considering the website is just over a
year old. Stonemaster has a multitude of activities including online
chess games, logo competitions and innovative local tournaments such as
the Stonemaster Amateur.

Also not a new blog but Hairulov Chessmaniacs has been very active recently. Lots of interesting chess related posts such as the latest one on Anand: First Vegetarian World Champion!
Keep it up, Hairulov! I met the author of the blog when he came over to
Cititel MidValley to take a look at the Malaysian Open himself.

Of course there are more blogs out there that I’ve missed. I’ll probably leave that for Part II :)
