Computer Games Vs Chess

At DATMO 2005, there was the WCG (World Computer Games) just opposite the DATMO playing halls. The prize money and attractions for the computer game event attracted many times more people compared to the DATMO crowd.

I think Chess doesn’t have a chance with more kids getting addicted to this savvy high tech games. It takes a special child to want to sit down for 30mins to several hours to fight an opponent over some boring chess board. Sure there’ll still be juniors going into chess as it is actively being introduced in schools. But my estimate is this ratio is 95:5 in favour of kids playing computer games

2 days ago was the release of the game Halo 3 which is said to be the hottest game on the XBox 360 this year. The sales were good with the first day sales racking up USD 170 million!
