How Thoof Works
Ever since The Star stopped Quah Seng Sun’s chess column I’ve stopped buying that newspaper. Not just as protest but I also find that newspapers are expensive and a big waste of precious paper. Now, I get almost all my news from websites. Social networking websites go a step further and tell me what others are reading and interesting news are highlighted. I have no problem finding interesting and relevant news on these websites.
Thoof.com is one of these websites that offer personalized news. It’s a simple but ingenious concept because it tracks what news I actually read when I click on it. It then will match more news based on my first selection. If I don’t like that particular news I can click on “improve” and suggest improvement to it’s content.
Not only that, I can participate as well by submitting news that I find interesting to share with others. If other Thoof members find it interesting, it will rank well and probably float to the top of their front page. That’s just great for someone like me who is looking for some website traffic.
Here’s how it works. When I submit my article to Thoof, they will give me a badge I can include on my website. The badge acts as a visitor tracker to see if my posted news is interesting or not. For example you can see the badge below this article to see how ‘popular’ it ranks with Thoof. It’s a great tool to tell me which article people like or don’t like.
Thoof just works - as tool to people who consume news as well as to the creators of the news.
