PIKOM PC Fair a disaster?

I read posts from LowYat.net forum and the general feeling I got there was Pikom PC Fair is a disaster.

Here is what I summarised from the forum posts:-

  • you can get cheaper prices at Low Yat plaza (everyday is PC Fair there)
  • old goods were being dumped at PC Fair
  • it’s overcrowded
  • less new technology being shown compared to past years

I guess geeks at Low Yat are smarter, being in touch and very sensitive to market prices. Still, the huge number that attends PC Fair every time surely means there are things worth getting there. Or is the general public just plain uninformed?

In the past, I always felt compelled to go. I just wanted to see any new tech stuff and buy supplies/gadgets such as inkjet refills, CDs, thumbdrive, MP3 players etc. I don’t want to go but today I’ll drop by to apply for a Maybank credit card (Yes, I can’t wait to get into credit card debt! :) )

I’ll see for myself if PC Fair is really deteriorating. After all, I’ve had good memories of having chess promoted in the last Pikom PC Fair on April 2007.

Yeah! I used to work in Lowyat Plaza before. I used to take care of the IT dept. when my colleagues went to the PC fair to sell the old stocks aka “Kiam Choy” and some stock with no warranty.

Wa.. that’s bad. I suspected the vendors at PC Fair do the same thing with lots of goods.

I once bought a bunch of CDRW that couldn’t work. I tried with other burners thinking it was my CD Burner problem but with same result. Totally useless CDs. Can’t even find the shop the sold it so that I can return them. SO buyers beware!
