Thoof - Personalised News
Thoof is a new social news sharing site that offers personalized news and have faint ideas of Digg.com. Well sort of. They have a lot of other features that differentiates them from Digg. For example, if you don’t like how a particular news item is worded you can change the summary, title, tags and quote the reason for the change.
For those who don’t know, websites like Thoof are social news sharing site where they feature interesting news, websites, videos and links based on what their readers like. You can have a better idea by viewing this this screencast. They have a system where only the most interesting news float up to the first page. Judging from their main page, titles like 10 Reasons To Drink More Water, Baby mammoth discovery unveiled, How Marbles Are Made are all quite interesting. The most important feature of this site is submitting a story is very easy. That’s a key point to any successfull social news site.
You can find stories by using the search feature on the top right of the page. Of course, testing out the site, the very first term I searched for is “Chess”. However only two stories popped up - it was the announcement of the new Chess.com site and a new 3D chess game. Still the site is new and I’m sure more stories will be contributed by the readers. Judging from the features alone, I predict this site can be another digg-like success.
