Nuffnang is insignificant
That comment by khailee of webwatch.com.my piqued my interest. To be fair, it was part of this quote from another’s blogger article where a Malaysian based Internet company Co founder Of Mindvalley, Mike Reining told an interviewee he has never heard of Nuffnang.
Here’s khailee’s comment in full:
hi. khailee here, im pictured on the far right of the pic you are hot-linking![]()
i’m glad you enjoyed the interview process.
Do you know how many % of top companies in the silicon valley know nuffnang? mindvalley operates internationally as an internet business - and nuffnang is insignificant. perhaps when they deserve more publicity people outside malaysia will care.
The bold is mine.
I guess there’s some truth in it. Nuffnang is not know internationally outside of Malaysia. (They also operate in Singapore). But I can’t help but feel this is such high-nosed view of a successful local company. I think in terms of momentum, Nuffnang has moved forward more than MindValley’s Blinklist has for this year alone. Granted Blinklist success was achieved years ago and they have a big mass of users that has built up over time but I am confident to say Nuffnang’s has progressed rather fast for an “insignificant” company. MindValley may look like a Goliath now but watch out! This is the internet and lots of Goliath’s been fell by tiny Davids, local or otherwise.
PS: Unlike khailee, I don’t work for any Internet-based company like MindValley, Nuffnang or Advertlets and this article was written purely based on my personal opinion written on my insignificant blog

hi - sorry for coming across arrogant. hope i didnt offend anyone, never intended to.
i agree that in a malaysian/ regional context they are very significant indeed. i am all for local companies making a name for themselves, local or not, and i have no doubt that their growth will continue. and their success can only complement the growth of the internet and malaysia as brand (perhaps only advertlets will be affected adversely).
on a related note, i personally prefer advertlets, and mindvalley was one of the earliest advertisers on their network.

I agree with you Timothy and hope to see nuffnang succeed,Malaysian bloggers will always support nuffnang.
Now you are still small, but I do believe with all the hardwork you’ve guys done, Nuffnang will rise faster than expected. You guys are like CILI Padi… small but innovative and creative… wishing you all the best….

Hi Andrew,
Thanks so much for your vote of confidence.
To Mindvalley’s delight, I actually have heard of Mindvalley and I must say they have done very well for a Malaysian company. Not all their projects worked out but the ones that did like Blinklist really took off beyond the wildest dreams of any Malaysian dotcom and on top of that, the two co-founders certainly have the right credentials to boast.
I certainly don’t blame them for not hearing about Nuffnang. We are after all, only 4 months old. Sure we have had the very lucky opportunity to deal with many bluechip clients so early in our infancy and even luckier that we have got the support of both the Malaysian and Singaporean blogosphere, but we are still a baby dotcom!
Patience is what all of us at Nuffnang have… and arrogance is something all of us cannot afford… not even with whatever limited success we have had.
I really thank you for speaking out for us Andrew. Your vote of Confidence is something we cannot take for granted.
