GM Ian Rogers retires

Picture above is from the 1st DATMO and the very first picture I have with a real life Grandmaster.

According to Chessexpress, GM Ian Rogers has announced his retirement from competitive chess due to health reasons. He announced this after winning the Lidums Checkmate Open that has just been completed in Adelaide.

GM Ian Rogers was the first Australian to become an International Grandmaster in 1985 and is a prominent chess figure in Malaysian Chess as he has acted as national coach at least once and given many short training to juniors in this country. He just had his 47th birthday two weeks ago.

I have personally seen GM Ian Rogers played in all 3 Malaysian Open events and it will be a pity that this year he will not be participating. :(
