Blinklist any good?
When you browse the internet as much as I do, research tools are pretty important. I came across this site called Blinklist.com because I saw their job advert for a web developer. The company is MindValley and their work culture and environment looked so cool and it was very much a Google-like company in Malaysia. Anyway, I was curious what sort of product they were doing and it is this social bookmarking tool called BlinkList. I tried using it and it was pretty unintuitive. I had to go download a large plugin 400Kb and it only worked with my FireFox browser.

I also use Flock because it is very similiar to FireFox but lighter but the plugin could not work with it. Not a big issue as I use FireFox half of the time. I don’t know after adding one bookmark and seeing that it’s no different from http://deli.cio.us another social bookmarking tool, I just gave up. I found it uninteresting and unintuitive.
After a day I got this email:
Hey gilachess,
A few days ago you signed up with BlinkList because you were either curious or excited enough to learn what it is all about.
However, we noticed that you never even managed to blink your first site. Clearly, something must be wrong with BlinkList since anyone should be able to figure out how to blink their first site in under a minute.
If you just got busy, you can click on the link below to learn how to start blinking in under a minute

If you got lost and nothing made any sense to you, please let
me know since I am always trying to figure out how to make
BlinkList easier to use.Sincerely,

The following quote really hit me
Clearly, something must be wrong with BlinkList since anyone should be able to figure out how to blink their first site in under a minute.
because it suggests I’m pretty stupid as I really couldn’t figure out how their ‘website’ was for in under one minute ![]()
Needless to say I spend many more one minutes to get up to speed with using it. I have to say it wasn’t rocket science but in this age of Web 2.0 I think blinklist falls a bit short. Their apps feel like they’ve been developed at least 2 years ago without much changes.
Comparing blinklist with del.icio.us is like comparing MSN search with Google search. I guess I like simplicity.
Del.icio.us addon was much smaller at 70Kb+ and worked in both FireFox and Flock.
Is anybody else using blinklist? So far, this is just my initial feeling on blinklist. For the moment I’ll keep on using del.icio.us and will still be on the lookout for better tools if any. I’ll still keep the blinklist addon for a while longer. Maybe I missed something.
Does anybody out there have a different experience?

Yeah…i quit using blinklist already … their website is heavy compared to del.icio.us. Del.icio.us is easier to use.
Great analogy!

I don’t understand how to use Blinklist. Now, I’m using Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon.
