Future plans

Now that I will be jobless within a month, I feel surprisingly free. Financially of course I was worried in the beginning but with my online revenue growing, it should match my old salary in 3 months time. I may have to struggle a little for the first 2 months but I am confident I will survive. Also, I want my current programming job to be my last full time job I ever have. I don’t want to go back to the daily 9-6 work week ever again … if I can help it.

In other words for my chess readers, it’s good news as I will have more time to concentrate on getting local and international chess news as well as build interesting web related tools like the Chess publisher. In the online community, there is what we call the problogger who make their living entirely from blogging. Check out blogs like LiewCF.com, 5xmom.com and HongKiat.com. They all make more money than the regular full time office worker. I estimate 5xmom herself (from her previous blog posts) makes 5 times my salary !! I’m hoping to be the first Chess Problogger.

Of course if things don’t work out I can always go back to working full time. I’ve got many job offers as a PHP programmer (it’s currently in demand) but I’ve turn all of them down. So it’s big personal challenge for me right now - to succeed in making money online OR to succumb and go back to the daily office work routine.

Nevertheless, I will be working very hard from now onwards to stay jobless !! (funny thing to say ain’t it :) )
