It’s the middle of the year and I shudder to open up my New Year’s Resolution I made on Dec 31, 2006. Well here it is and let’s see what has already been accomplished and have NOT been accomplished:-

2007 New Year’s Resolution

  • Improve GilaChess.com usefulness & popularity(target average daily hits at 10,000 up from last year’s 3000 hits).

  • Launch GilaChess radio.
  • Better coverage of Dato Arthur Tan’s Malaysia Open 2007 (compared to 2006 which was awful).
  • Promote chess by using the web as medium to teach chess to beginners (e-learning)-Gilachess cyber classroom / academy ?
  • Better coverage for GACC.
  • Promote more chess websites by helping to set them up.
  • Attain at least 1800 on WCN and on National rating list.
  • Make enough money from blogging to retire and have more time for family, friends and chess!
  • Create better versions of Chess Publisher.
  • Set up at least 20 new and different chess websites.
  • Be able to visualise the chess board without looking at the chess board to be able to read chess books without setting up the pieces.
  • Make more chess friends locally and internationally.
  • More screencasts or chess videos to teach beginners basic topics like using chess software such as databases, analysis with chess engines, sundry chess endings, etc.
  • Lose the ‘beer belly’.
  • Be at least half as good in blogging as Closet Grandmaster and Susan Polgar.
  • Build more online community tools such as forums, wiki and online chess playing sites.
  • Upgrade programming knowledge(AJAX, Flash, Ruby on Rails, PHP /Cake) to further build better and cool tools for chess.
  • Get enough money to send yet another 2 teams in the Merdeka Team Championship 2007.
  • Learn better time management skills to ensure everthing mentioned above have half a chance of successful completion.

Phew, that was a long list. I’ve never really made any new year resolution before. I will cross out each item as it is completed on this page itself.
