Klang Parade - photo report
Was I late. I’m still at the Sentral LRT station. Clock shows 9:38am when the first rounds are scheduled to start at 10am. Klang Express Bus no E4 from Klang Bus stand (or ‘Pasaramakota’) Arrived 30 minutes after the first round had already started. No chance to get in Encik ‘KZ’ now a common face helping out with the pairings in many tournaments Chess mothers having a talk. Their sons are top players too, Sumant, Fariz (eventual champ), Zarul Shazwan (NM). Since the tournament hall was in a shopping complex, it attracted many curious onlookers Wonder Kid, Yeap Eng Cheam’s father with Sumant’s father, Demudu Subramaniam. Sumant’s sister vs newly crowned National Master Zarul Shazwan The event attracted many new faces presumably Klang local players There were a big number of under 12 players participating. A good sign.. Lunch. I always liked Kenny Rogers. But it didn’t taste as good at the Klang Parade branch. Under-18 champ vs Kamaluddin Yusof (2nd place winner) Edward Lee had a great start with 5 wins in a row including a win vs the National Champion Zarul Shazwan.
It would take at least an hour from here to get to Klang.
