Deafening Silence

silence.jpgWhat’s happened? Our Malaysian Yahoo group is so quiet. Has interest in chess dropped so much?

Looking at the summary of posts and comparing it with past years, you can see the huge drop in activity.

I don’t think that’s because there is less interest in chess. Judging from the traffic statistics from Stonemaster, GilaChess.com and my blog, traffic has been steadily increasing.

Here’s a look at GilaChess.com’s traffic for the past few months:-

This means more people are reading about chess but fewer are talking about it online. I see the same trend in my blog comments and shoutbox. After posting 5 or 6 articles, I will have about of 1 or 2 comments only. Why this is so is anybody’s guess..

Alot of members had got hooked by Sudoku??

Sudoku fever?

I thought that was over already.

I never got hooked on that :)

Hehe, with the emergence of chess blogs, especially ones that gives updates in a jiffy–with comment boxes and shout outs to boot–it seems like readers have been swayed to much faster channels, convenient also (signing in? =P)

I sometimes think twice before I post a comment here; with many others saying the same things, I don’t want anything to seem redundant. And trying to avoid being captain obvious.
