PPP Direct

If you have read my thousand dollar experiment, you would know that PayPerPost (PPP) is the biggest contributor to that RM1000.

Not surprising as it is the hottest advertising company that pays bloggers very well. They have a fantastic business model bringing advertisers and bloggers together and benefitting both. The PPP model works so well that many other copy cat companies have popped up trying to mimic and profit from this idea. However, none of them have succeeded as PPP has. I think the main reason is PPP has the advantage not only being a pioneer in this field but they have also captured a large market share as well as offering the best service so far. Their recent USD 7 million funding is a good testament to that.

They have recently come out with a new program called Pay Per Post Direct. As you can see from my right navigation of this blog I’ve posted an advert (”Hire me”) offering to make a post review on this blog for USD 6. Other competitors offer this too but they take a massive chunk of the advertiser money as commission. For example, competitors like ReviewMe charge 50% and above! Typically if the advertiser pays USD 10 you only get US 5 or less. Get this, PPP direct only charges 10% fee and 5% of it actually goes to credit card and PayPal processing fee. 10% is almost negligible considering the administrative cost PPP has to bear.

Of course the major disadvantage is that if your site is one that has little traffic, you won’t get many ‘buyers’ for your reviews. However if you have good traffic, chances are good that you’ll be hired for reviews. My price is pretty low at the moment at USD6. But there are some Malaysians like 5xmom.com who charges USD 100 per review!

Although feedback from people like Kumiko of cashquests.com is lukewarm, I’m all for it! It’s a new program and given time, it’ll be successful. Even if it’s not, in the internet business, changing focus and introducing new programs can be done pretty fast. If you want to make make money writing sponsored reviews, try out this program. After all, there’s nothing to lose except a few minutes to put up the “Hire me” sign.

PS:
I also got a wake up call in the form of an email threathening to ban me from PPP. I’ve been slacking lately and been greedy in just getting out the sponsored posts. Consequently some of my chess postings were just cut and paste hacks from news websites.
I was actually warned about this and reminded to include ‘real content’ or I’ll be banned. I’ve taken this seriously and I’m amazed they actually take the trouble to read my blog posts (there are thousand of other registered bloggers) to evaluate the validity of my content and not just the sponsored post. Goes to show that PPP is really takes valid blogs and quality content seriously.
