GilaChess Camera - another alternative
I’ve been browsing CNet website and saw this video review on face detection technology in the new digital cameras.
It’s simply cool with a ‘targeting square’ tracking any human face in the camera’s LCD view screen. The results, according to reviews and Canon’s own advertisement is clearer and more accurate shots of human faces. Since I’m taking mostly pictures of chess player’s faces this new feature is pretty attractive.
The dilemma now is that these new cameras are here now and I initially decided to get the Canon Powershot 710IS because that has Image Stabilisation but has no face detection.
Also, the new cameras are cheaper but the ones I see don’t have Image Stabilisation. Eg:

This is the Canon Powershot 560 with Face Detection. (No Image stabilisation though)
It’s priced around RM 599. That’s about RM 400 cheaper than the 710IS.
Which is better? Face Detection or Image Stabilisation?
