Hotel info for chess travellers
It’s a known fact that chess players need to travel to tournaments in many countries to gain exposure and experience. Finding a good hotel that is both near to the tournament as well as affordable is important. Granted some tournaments tie in the registration with the hotel charges to make up for costs, there are stil many where you have a choice to stay elsewhere.
Online tools such as hotel bookings and reference sites is invaluable. I wonder what sort of sites travelling Grandmasters use. Anyway, I found HotelReservations.com that offers features such as:
- Hotel Reservations
- Booking of Fligts
- Book Car Rental/Hires
- Packaged Holiday Vacation deals
Browsing thru the site and testing the database queries with local hotels, I find that what they have is quite extensive. They have details about hotel charges, types of rooms, facilities etc which is important to the travelling chess master.
I guess you can save quite a lot by skipping the travel agents. Once you’ve chosen your destination, you can just book your resort, hotel or motel whichever suits your budget.
I’m sure that there are many informational sites like HotelReservations.com but I’ve yet to find one with such a complete database. They also give you info about tourists attractions, local and cultural information.
Besides that, you can actually call someone to make enquiries. They have toll free numbers to call:
In the US and Canada it’s 1-800-447-4136
The rest of the world it’s (1) 817-333-5105
Of course you can use some voip service to call this numbers for free.
The web has certainly become a valuable resource for the travelling chess player.
So far, this is the best site I’ve found for this sort of service. They have up to 70% savings discount on some of their offerings.
Please leave a comment here if you find anything better than HotelReservations.com Cheap Hotels offers.
