Secure Zip - protection for your zip file
ZIP files are so common nowadays and is convenient as we can squeeze a collection of files into one.
I use zip files all the time. Especially important, zip files are to back up my work like the source code files I am working on. Hundreds of files can be compressed into one file placed into a removable storage device like a thumb drive.
One common concern is losing that thumbdrive that contains all that valuable data. Particularly if that data is sensitive. That is why my important zipped files are protected by passwords. One great zip tool that does this job well is secure zip.
I don’t mind losing a copy of a backup in zip format because if it’s important enough, there’ll be multiple copies of it. What I can’t imagine my hard work falling into the hands of someone else.
Of course popular utility WinZip offers this feature to password protect but it is loosely implemented and can be cracked easily using the brute force method.
