Reason for stopping Chess Patzer Theories

This blog is basically listed as a “Chess Improvement” blog in major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Technorati. Judging from the content here, you’d be hard pressed to find any chess improvement related article. As mentioned by the Boylston Chess Club.

To be honest, it is sometimes difficult to find chess at Chess Patzer Theories

.

I have to agree as half the time I’m not talking about chess here. Because of this I’ve decided to discontinue Chess Patzer Theories as it is misleading. It’s just unfair to trick people who come here via search engine hoping to find information chess improvement. Instead, they’ll find pictures of my lunch, stories of my moblogging, notebooks, gadgets etc.

Don’t worry, this blog will not close down. Instead it will be shifting to a new URL and new name - The Patzer to continue reporting on my chess training plans/results and other chess related topics.

This blog on the other hand will not be Chess Patzer Theories anymore but instead be called Gila Chess Blog (it’s original name). So essentially, I have two blogs now. The Patzer will be a more serious chess blog and Gila Chess blog will be my personal blog where I will continue posting about anything I want. Incidentally, I have to thank the readers here for their support because the new website was paid for entirely from ad profits from Chess Patzer Theories. This just proves PayPerPost, Google Ads, and Text-Ad-Links all work! I also recommend great chess blogs like Boylston Chess Club and ClosetGrandmaster to explore some advertisement options on their site so they too can move out of blogspot and host their own websites.

Also, no worries about Chess Publisher as it will continue to be hosted and supported here. In fact, version 2 of the Chess Publisher is already working but I haven’t found the time to make a proper page for people to get the cut and paste code like in version 1.

Wow Ganesh, thanks for the support.

As you can see, this blog is not stopped. Just a title change that’s all. This blog started because of my curiousity and need to find out what is blogging. Then it continued as an informal way to record what I’ve done to try to improve at chess. I never really expected the blog to actually have readers (at least not more than 10 :D ). Later I used it to post ad hoc results and announcement of local chess events because it was fast and convenient.

Now I just do it for fun because I love the idea that it is self sustaining with all the webhosting being paid by ads.

The new blog (ThePatzer.com) is technically 3 times bigger in terms of storage space and runs on faster Intel XEON web servers. I hope it’ll be more than just a chess blog when I add more features to it.
