Growing Chess interest in Malaysia
This is the stats taken from GilaChess.com sitemeter.

Almost all GilaChess.com’s traffic is from Malaysia. 200 is not a big number but it’s quite significant for a niche topic like chess. To me , it’s significant as the last 5 years only showed visitors numbering less than 100 daily. That’s double the number in just one year.
So I’m just plain discouraged why editor from The Star went ahead and dropped Quah Seng Sun’s column. It’s just illogical.
Sure, Mr Quah can switch to online articles instead of newspaper articles but then we would lose a big marketing avenue for chess in Malaysia. I am quite discouraged to see that the online petition only has 80+ signatures. Is it because few see the significance in the loss of Quah Seng Sun’s column?
