Broadband in India

* sponsored post by Reliance broadband *

I gambled on getting a good service from TMNet and lost. Of course I’ve heard of how bad the service was from the net and also from friends. However there were the lucky few that got relatively no problem whatsoever from Malaysia biggest broadband monopoly.

I’ve been reading about India’s broadband.

The reason is because 2 years ago I’ve met programmers from India and seen how much better these Indian programmers were compared to Malaysian programmers (from my point of view anyway). I’ve always envisioned India as a very backward country and cannot imagine people using broadband there. But talking to these Indian programmers I find that they do have relatively good broadband service.

I am just embarassed thinking how Malaysia would want to compete with the likes of India and China in the IT arena with the quality of broadband we have now.

The TMNET equivalent in India is Reliance broadband.

They provide wireless internet connections using mobile phones and data cards. It’s pretty convenient for newcomers to register and subscribe to the broadband service. All they have to do is make a phone call and a sales rep would meet the potential customer within 72 hours!. After that they guarantee broadband connection will be set up and running within 7 days of that first phone call!

Unlike my experience where after going thru the registering process, I had to wait 7 weeks before the TMNet contractor came to the house. Not only that, they charge me a month’s service when I didn’t even have the connection installed. Comparing this with India’s Reliance service, it puts Malaysian broadband to shame. Don’t even get me started on the quality of connection after installation. :(
