Streamyx at long last!
I registered for Streamyx during PC Fair on December 3rd 2006. One whole month passed without the promised installation (they told me it would be one week max). I contacted the company that sold the package and they promised me it would be soon. After a week without any action I told them I wanted to cancel. That was 2 weeks ago. Then they told me that I could not cancel as TMNet is already charging me for January 2007 access.
Unbelievable! I am charged for internet access for one month even though it was not installed yet!
A few days ago someone finally came over and installed the modem/router for streamyx access.
Tested the speed and it was only about 100Kb/sec (with 2 file downloads) average download speed. Tested a second time with a random file it reached about 150Kb/sec. Kind of poor quality for a 1Mbps line but I can’t complain. Some people have it worse. Still it will be essential for me as I can maintain all my chess sites and blogs from home.
No more late nights at mamak stalls
