First tournament of 2007
(2 lecithin tablets before the tourney)
I had about 2 hours sleep (coffee overload) before playing in the first tournament (for me) in the year - the Engitex tournament.
It was an adventure as I had not been there before and I took bus 91 to IIUM (International Islamic University of Malaysia).
This was my first opponent.
Of course he is smiling knowing this patzer will be his 1st round victim. I lost but not without giving a good fight(in my mind anyway). It’s probably my best effort in the Engitex tournament. I’ll post that game later.
My next game was against a weaker opponent and I was overconfident as I won a whole rook and the win was almost assured. However the following accident took place

So that’s two losses in a row!
My 3rd round was a little tougher as my opponent was relatively the same strength as me. He sacrificed a piece for 2 pawns around my King. Luckily the centre was closed and I could attack on the opposite wing. The centre was relatively closed but luckily I bothered him enough by attacking his King on the opposite side. Manage to distract him long enough to take attention off my exposed king. Won after simplifying into the endgame.
The other 3 games were against very weak opponents but I still struggled and I won them all in the time scramble.
So I won 4 games in a row. Lost the last round to junior Edward Lee.
Anyway I’m not too disappointed as I’m back to my 50% score.
4 out 7 points may be my best results compared to my results in 2006. (probably should not be happy about that )
