Graphing progress in 3 categories
I may be a Patzer but I am a decent web programmer.
One of the perks of a programmer is that I can add lots of cool web tools to my blogs that most other chess bloggers do not have. (when I have the time to program that is :))
Take for example this PHP/Flash graph I found from http://www.maani.us/charts/. Someone else wrote it as a free tool but it cannot be incorporated easily on blogs. First, you have to have a website that supports PHP(a programming language) and also be able to tweak and edit the codes to suit your website/blog.
I’m using it to chart my WCN rating progress. WCN’s own rating graph only shows one overall chart. I personally don’t like to have bullet games factor into the calculation as it brings my overall rating down.
Here, I can show my progress in the 3 categories - Standard, Blitz and Bullet.
My bullet performance is erratic but I shouldn’t be concerned. Half the game are won on accumulating time advantage and blasting out crazy moves in the last seconds to confuse your opponent and win on time. That is not Chess at all but more like a test of mouse dexterity.
Anyway, My target is to improve my Standard and Blitz ratings to 1800.
