1700 at last

Reached 1700 at last. I have to admit I cheated a bit by picking players that I was confident of beating. I relied too much on my opponent falling into my cheap trick variations in bullet games. I scored 3 lucky wins against higher rated opponents in my standard (20 mins) games.

Still it looks nice visually and I can call myself a Strong Patzer :).

Now I have to buckle down and do the not so ‘fun’ part - analysing my games.

Hello, Andrew.

Have you tried Chess Tactics Server at http://chess.emrald.net ? I mean, since you do a lot of blitz, it would be nice to sharpen up there as they provide literally hundreds of thousand tactics to be solved in really fast time limits, giving you the same sort of pressure you get from blitz. I see Kwan Pin’s name somewhere there too…

No. I haven’t tried out the CTS although I’ve read about it a few time in other chess improvement blogs.

I’ll check it out later. But I think CT-Art tactics exercises on the PDA is preferable as I’m not online often.

Kwan Pin’s name is there huh? No wonder his WCN rating is also above 2200+.

I saw your name! Now we have 22 Malaysian tacticians! The ratings by the way are no means a true reflection of one’s actual chess strength. They’re merely to gauge one’s tactical ability.

I tried it out on my dial up and my responsetime was so slow that my rating drop to 1300. Missed getting any anwers right.
