Pictures from the Malaysian Festival 2006
As you know I lost my camera a night before the Malaysian Open started so this blog is very deficient in terms of pictures from such a big chess event.
Hence, I’m grateful to Encik Ahmad Shafruddin for sending me this pictures he took of the event.

Deputy Prime Minister Najib Opening Speech.
GM Susanto Megaranto - finished in 10th place.
Ak Hira Pg Mohd Omar from Brunei (ELO 2173) caused the biggest upset of the tournament beating GM Susanto Megaranto in the first round.
Della-Rossa Anastasia - daughter of IM Shvedchikov Anatoli (14th place in DATMO) playing in the AmBank section. She cried leavnig the tournament hall. Now who was the one who made her cry ?
Australian GM Ian Rogers did not have a good tournament finishing in 27th place. Ian finished top 10 in the last 2 Malaysian Open.
Hafiz Shafruddin
WGM Eesha from India - obtained an IM norm.
IM Ashot Nadanian had a good run finishing in 9th place in the Malaysian Open. He was seeded 17th initially.
