Apologies for late updates
Sorry for the late updates for the Merdeka team event that just ended yesterday. As you know GilaChess entered 2 teams for the Merdeka Team - GilaChess Patzers and GilaChess Masters respectively. However we did not fare too well.
The Patzers finished in 47 place and the Masters finished in 21 place.
I feel that this year’s merdeka is the toughest of all. Strong countries like the Phillipines and Indonesia sent 3 teams each. Vietnam sent a very strong team too.
The Masters team consisted of GM Yu Shaoteng, Michael Siong, Lee Kwan Pin, Yusof Yasnain, Leong Mun Wan and Chow Mon Ben. One consolation for GilaChess was that our team member, GM Yu Shaoteng won best 1st board prize in the open category.
It was so tiring I forgot to get the updated results from Tse Pin. I will get an email copy from him later and will update it to this blog and GilaChess.com.
What was worse that I lost my camera - again.
It is the worse time to lost it at a time when I need it the most. To cover the AmBank and the Malaysian Open.
One consolation is the tournament hall has Internet access so you will see frequent updates here - minus the pictures
