Buying an exploding notebook?

I received a forwarded email from Remis Aman about exploding Dell notebooks.

Seeing that I made the Dell Inspiron 6400 my “dream” patzer notebook, it is indeed worrying. Here’s a video showing how the Dell literally blew up (and quite spectacularly too I might add)

Still, from the other tech websites, I’ve gathered that the problem only recently occured when many of these notebook companies like DELL and Apple (who have also had many exploding notebook incidents) used batteries manufactured in China. Apparently these batteries are poorer production quality.

Anyway, I’m still letting the DELL Inspiron 6400 remain as my “dream” notebook as I trust DELL will fix the problem soon.

Update:
Dell is recalling all of 4 million batteries worldwide.
Meaning if you have a certain (not all) Dell model, you can get the battery replaced for free.

Apparently the batteries affected is made by Sony. It’s said Sony is paying for half of the huge cost of these battery replacement.

So, I’m still very much okay with DELL notebooks. I’m sure the new notebooks will not have these ‘exploding’ problems as DELL is now aware of it.
