Casino Friday

Played online chess at WCN full 7 hours starting from 5am Saturday morning. My Silver account has already expired but since it was Friday (U.S. time), I could play unlimited rated games. It was more for fun rather than chess improvement.

Still, I managed to play a little more 5 minute games (as suggested by some comments here) and raised my overall rating slightly. My last rating was around 1300+ overall.

hmm, what is the average rating of the opposition?

Opposition is around 1300-1400. Couple of rare ones at 1200+ and 1600+

bad, if you cannot raise your own rating, try to raise your opponents’ rating, from now on pls do not play anyone below floor of 1400, look for 1500s players as much as possible=p

ideally, your opponents should be rated 0-100 above you, but *never* lower than you. From the “learning” perspective, and the way internet chess ratings are obtained, it is almost always more advantageous to play higher rated opposition

Ok. Point taken.

I did try to search out opponents higher rated than me. Only a few wanted to play me so I ended up playing mostly against those who are more or less equal strength.
