Koneru Humpy to play in Malaysia Open 2006
One of the most often asked question I received is “do you have the Malaysia Open playing list?”. Yeah, I’m itching to see the list too. I promise to publish it as soon as I receive it from MCF.
In the meantime, there’s a strong possibility of World Junior Champ Koneru Humpy playing here in KL next month.
Former world junior chess champion Koneru Humpy has joined the Oil & Natural Gas Commission as personal administrative officer in Hyderabad on Friday.
Humpy’s first major assignment after a gap of two months since the last Olympiad may be the Malaysian International Open next month..

If you remember, Koneru played in the DATMO 2005 although I don’t remember her doing particularly well finishing in 12th place. I guess she will be looking forward to bettering her performance last year.

I also congratulate Koneru Humpy for finally finding a stable employer/sponsor as she had a hard time last year after the Bank of Haroda her main sponsor, pulled out. Bank of Haroda had been Koneru’s sponsor for 7 years. Last year she competed in the Malaysian Open under her own expenses.
