Overwhelming response to Stonemaster Tourney

The maximum number of participants for the Stonemaster Tourney was set at 140. From what I gather from Stonemaster’s post at the shoutbox, the latest number of pre-registered participants is now 176 !! That’s a truly big number. Granted that it’s only pre-registered names but going by Malaysian typical rapid tournaments, you will find many participants who did not pre-reg trying to register on the morning itself.

So even with dropouts from the list, the 140 seats is most likely to be filled on the day of the tournament. Not to mention many disappointed late comers who will not make it. I’m glad my name is already in the list :)

There is a 2nd leg planned ??

it’s good news to hear the overwhelming response to the stonemaster tourney. it would be great it fadli can increase the number of participants to 160. for the sake of chess itself. hopefully, this batch of unrated players will continue to excel n there’ll be more fide-rated players in the next 4-5 years. hopefully more masters!

Yeah, never before has chess interest been so high in Malaysia.

It really gives patzers like me incentive to raise my game standards no matter how little that improvement may be :)
