GilaChess redesign

I am pleased to announce the redesign of GilaChess.com website. Actually it will be a major upgrade and not just a change in design. The old CMS (Content Management System) known as PostNuke which has served me well for over 5 years.

Sadly the old system feels well… slow. I am comparing it with features of this blog platform (WordPress) that I’m writing this article on. Also, I’m looking for a better and faster system that will make it easier for me to post my articles and news via PDA and handphone as I have no access to the Internet at home.

GilaChess Beta

There will be a long beta test (about 1 month) before I officially launch the new site.

The site is already up at a secret URL :)

Features it will have:

  • Posting and editing artilces via email (perfect for my WiFi/PDA setup)
  • Small and simple code (meaning it will be easy to change and extend)
  • Open source - freely viewable, changeable code
  • Calendar/Events
  • Forum
  • Shoutbox
  • RSS feeds

    yes fresh on the outside (look and feel)… I took at the inner codes too… and it was ‘fresh’ INSIDE too :)

    im sure they’ll be lots more frequent visitors to the site in the future. really hope it is officially launched before the upcoming merdeka/malaysian open in august.

    Yes that’s exactly the deadline I want to meet. Also to have a backup/mirrow site to fall back on in case of hacker attack like last year. 2 months to prepare….
