Men: We lost 1-3 to Latvia. Latvia fielded 2500+ players on board 1 and 2. Mok and Yee Weng commendably held the two Latvian GM and Â’M to a draw. Mas was rested for the first time in 11 rounds.Anas and Jonathan fought valiantly but was just overpowered by their 2400+ Elo rated opponents.
Women : Malaysia lost 1-2 to Finland. Siti & Khye Theng lost to WIMs but Shazwani saved Malaysia from total loss by winning on third board.
Everybody who plays team event knows that the last round pairing is important decider for the final results. The losses may turn out to be a blessing in disguise as is very common in these types of tournament. Let’s hope this holds tru for Malaysia in round 13.
