My Precious #3

Here’s the new addition to my chess training gadgets:
Pocket PC PDA
model : HP iPaq 4150
It’s a third used PDA I bought from Lelong.com.my, a Malaysian website where you can find many great offers for used items.
Note:
My advice is to go for COD (Cash On Delivery) items so that you can inspect the goods personally when you win a lelong bid before you actually pay for it.
I feel it’s safer that way compared to getting the goods via postal mail.
That’s what I did. I COD my new PDA.
My first Pocket PC PDA was the iPaq 1940 which looks almost like my new PDA. I was very happy with it as it was the first time I could carry around a “GM in my pocket” - Pocket Fritz. I had wanted to run Pocket Fritz since 2 years ago but never did because of the high cost of the PDAs at that time. The ipaq 1940 was the ideal Chess PDA for me. However I was careless and the screen somehow was damaged when I left i in my trouser’s pocket.Repair cost was higher than the cost of getting another PDA of the same model.
As a replacement I got the Dell Axim X5 and was happy with it for a few months. Nothing wrong with it except it was a bit bulky.I ran the 3 main chess training programs on it with no problems. These programs were:
The Dell Axim may have looked old fashionly big for a PDA but it’s battery life was excellent. I could listen to 3 hours of MP3 songs and still be able to run chess programs without recharging for a whole day. The 1940 battery would die in about 2 hours of usage.
With my new PDA I have the best features from my previous two PDAs. It looks sexily small as my first PDA but has a longer battery life (about 4 hours) like my second PDA. As an added bonus I now have WiFi built in so I can connect to the Internet from the many hotspots in and around Klang valley. The second bonus is the seller of the PDA included a spare battery effectively doubling the time I can use the PDA.
This article was typed entirely on the new PDA and transmitted over WiFi at one of the free hotspots at One Utama Damansara shopping complex. Cool eh ??
Cost for the items in the picture:
I also found a new usage for Pocket Fritz. It’s a great PGN viewer. Turn on the replay game feature and you can watch a game played with animated pieces without pressing a button. An excellent feature.

[...] 4. Electronic Exercises My PDA has been underused lately. So, I will use Pocket CT-Art and Pocket Chess Strategy and solve as much exercises as possible. Will work out the descent minimum number of daily exercises to solve. Also look into the possibility of creating own chess positions to solve (based on past mistakes) on Pocket Fritz. [...]
