Picture above shows Nur Nabila Azman playing against Jax Tham on board 8. It’s a hard fought game lasting 2 hours and 35 minutes. Jax played agressively castling on the queenside as White and began a Kingside attack on Nur Nabila’s King. She defended excellently and parried all of Jax’s attacking ideas. Unable to make any headway, Jax headed towards the endgame and exchage pieces. In the end it was Jax’s Bishop and Knight vs Nur Nabila’s lone Rook but she had a pawn for compensation. She had Jax on the ropes for some time but alas she declined taking Jax’s Knight for free at one point. I don’t see why she did that. Anyway now the game looks to be in Jax’s favour as he has stopped all of Nur’s pawn from queening. A likely win for Jax but again I’m very impressed by this little girl’s fighting spirit.
