CAS Allegro - Training result

I have kept quiet on my personal results in the recent CAS 2nd Allegro.

The reason was it is by far one of my worst results. It was so bad and disappointing that I stopped blogging live from the event. I knew I was losing in better positions from previous tournaments but I just couldn’t get out of this losing streak. I wasted many good if not winning positions.

I won one game against a player rated 100+ national rating points above me all because he was sick and just gave me a Queen for free. That was really pathetic and definitely not satisfying at all. The other point I got from an opponent who failed to show up for the last round. Every other game ended in a loss.

So what to do now?

Give up chess? Retire? Concentrate on just reporting chess like what someone suggested on the shoutbox?

Perhaps. But not likely :)

I’m Gila Chess. I get a kick out of just playing. Winning would be nice but there is satisfaction in making new chess friends. For example, I used to promote my website by asking people if they know GilaChess.com and if not I will pass them the URL. Nowadays, when I ask that question, almost all will say “Yes” and give me a insulted look that says “What? You think I’m dumb or something. Of course I know that website”.

Of course, my previous training plans bore no useful results as I didn’t follow any of the steps I laid out. That doesn’t mean the plans were useless though.

Still, I will persevere and come out with the perfect training method (at least ones that work for me) one day.

This blog will be the record of my failure and success.

One funny outcome of this tournament is that I will actually see a rating increase according to the TPR because I lost to much higher rated opponents (expected) and the one win was against a stronger opponent (unexpected). Damned, I was hoping my rating will drop below 1400 so I can play in Category 2. ;)
