Delayed blog from Klang Parade
I have to say sorry as I didn’t blog live from Klang Parade as promised. The reason was because when I left my house I found my handphone battery meter only had 2 bars.
So I saved the battery by turning the phone off. I figured that could send out a blog somewhere before lunch time. Alas, when I turned it on at 1pm, it just died. Another GilaChess blunder for not fully charging it the night before.
I am now typing this out on my PDA. Will upload it as soon as I reach a cybercafe. Currently in a bus, on my way back to KL from Klang.
A welcome sight when I reached the Klang Parade shopping complex was FM Nicholas Chan (picture below) and veteran Cheah Eu Gene.
I was eager to see how Rapid king Nicholas was going to fair after a long layoff due to his medical studies. Unfortunately, this turned out not to be Nicholas’ better tournament as he was held to a draw by Fariz Shafruddin and later lost to Azman Hisham . with 4.5 points Nicholas finished in 10th place, just behind Fadli Zakaria. Oh well even Nicholas is not immune to the occasional (and rare) bad form sometimes.
Cheah Eu Gene started out strong and was sharing the lead in the tournament until the last round where he suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Zarul Shazwan.
On top form was Abdullah Che Hassan who made a clean sweep by winning all 6 games. Second was Masrin Erowan with 5 points. Third was Mohan Raj . fourth was Zarul Shazwan. Fifth is Siti Zulaikha.
My own result was a measly 2 points. I think I finished top 5 at the bottom of the table! Anyway, I think I fully deserve it as I was really in poor form. I am not too unhappy though. This gives more lost games to analyze and work on. I’m not too embarassed about it too. I’m a patzer after all.
Most rewarding of all was to hear a few chess players tell me personally how much they appreciated my GilaChess website and blog.One player even said he came to play after getting the ‘bug’ from reading my recent chess blogs.
That’s the main purpose of this blog. To infect as many people as possible with the GilaChess bug. 
I am amazed at how much I have typed just by ‘poking’ this PDA screen. Anyway, there won’t be anything to blog about for the next 2 weeks. There is the Temerloh Open, but I do not have transport getting there.
Anyone kind enough to let me hitch a ride with them ?

Hi, i played in the klang parade too. First tournament in 5 years!!! I was unfortunate enough to be paired with FM Nicholas in the secong round. Feeling too nervous, i blundered a pawn early and decided for an all out attack. Didn’t do too badly i guess coz i created chances. Anyways, i still cant believe i lost my 5th round game to Mohd Fadhli Zakaria as i was winning and he had 9sec (!) left… I didn’t see a mate in 2… can you believe that… Anyways, it was a poor tournament for me, couldn’ve been in the top 5(?) but blew my chances, regrets…
