Girl nightmares at Selangor Closed
The day did not start well as I had a flat tire going to the tournament hall in Sunway University College. Luckily I could move the car to the side of the road, and park it there till later at night to collect it.
Last year’s Selangor Closed I played 5 girls in a row and I complained that it was like playing in the Girl’s section of the tournament. I did badly with only 3 points out of 7.
(the picture above is Nur Nabila, my first round opponent - don’t let those innocent eyes fool you. She is a small firecracker over the chessboard!)
Well this year it was worse as I scored only 2 out of 7. And to make it worse, I played 4 girls !! What are the odds of that? Most games I lost in winning positions making the losses even more painful. Someone commented I was lucky to meet so many gilrs in a tourney. I can tell you that it’s no fun at all
All I can say now is, It’s going to take me a long time to recover from this psychologically and ego damaging experience.
I didn’t stay for the prize giving as I had to get back to my car before dark to change the flat. The tournament orgniser, Lim Tse Pin was kind enough to email me the results. (as usual pictures later in GilaChess.com)
